Ever had your ego kicked to the ground? I have many times. The latest was yesterday. I ran a ½ Marathon in training and it took almost TWO TIMES as long as my PB of 90 minutes. Boom! Down goes the ego.
I found my time quite discouraging, but my discouragement lasted all of 10 minutes. I replaced it with gratitude–that I finished a tough run & that my comeback training is on track. Moments later came the FIRE–a intense burning desire to rebuild and fight to get my running form back.
I could dream up 100 excuses for my slow legs, but ACTION is the only way forward. Action expressed via disciplined training, wise choices with nutrition, proper rest & a strong mind. H

Offers a quick look at a study of super-agers – people over 65 with the brain function of 20-somethings. This is a good reminder of the value of doing things that stretch us mentally, physically and emotionally, and that take us out of our comfort zones.
This is an EXCELLENT article on motivation. Points that resonated with me: establishing simple patterns and taking starter actions to drive the more challenging actions that are your goals, but often difficult to get motivated for. Bookmark this one–it’s very good.
I just published this article on my experience doing yoga in airports around the world to create peace and find balance when on the go. Hopefully some ideas for you when you travel next, even if it’s just to create a few quiet minutes to close your eyes and breathe deeply.
